Floromat

Software for the TORY flower vending machines in Dubai: people pick a bouquet on the screen, pay by card and take it from the locker. The fleet is run from the CRM, with no site visits.

(01) The brief

The machines were already standing in Dubai malls and business centres, but the old software barely worked and could not be developed: the team could not add postcard sales or a new dispensing type. The machine had to sell without a shop assistant: show the product, take the payment, open the right locker and cope when the flowers ran out.

(02) What we did

New software for machines that are already selling

We broke the flow into big steps: welcome screen, catalogue with photos and prices, bouquet page with add-ons, payment, pickup. The app talks to the hardware: it runs the payment through the card terminal and opens the lock of the exact locker that was paid for; next to the lockers a spiral dispenser now sells postcards and small gifts. Products, photos and prices come from the same CRM as the online store, so nobody maintains the machines separately. Three languages: English, Arabic and Russian.

(04) Machine states

Every state has its own screen: idle, catalogue, bouquet, payment, handover. Plus a PIN screen for the courier and the service engineer: refill the lockers, clear an error, check the machine. When the flowers run out, the screen doesn't apologise with an empty page — it shows a QR code to the delivery site.

(05) Run from the CRM

The machines live in the CRM next to the store. A manager sees stock per locker, how many days a bouquet has been inside, the temperature, sales for the day and every log — per machine or across the fleet. If a locker fails to open, it is opened from the CRM, and the machine's interface restarts remotely, with no site visit.
